Paying Rent
- Rent is due on the date set out in your lease, and the easiest way to pay is through the KEILTY Resident Portal. Setting up automatic payments takes a few minutes and removes the risk of a missed payment.
- If you ever anticipate difficulty paying on time, contact us early. Open communication almost always leads to better outcomes than silence.
Maintenance and Repairs
- Report issues promptly: Small problems become big ones when they wait. Submit non-urgent requests through the resident portal; see our step-by-step post, How to Submit a Maintenance Request.
- Emergencies: For urgent issues that threaten safety or property, such as flooding or a total loss of heat in winter, call us right away at 613-545-3322. Always call 911 first for fire or any life-threatening emergency.
- What you handle: Day-to-day upkeep like replacing light bulbs, keeping drains clear of debris, and reasonable cleaning is the resident's responsibility. When in doubt, ask before attempting a repair yourself.
Safety in Your Home
- Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms: Never disconnect or cover an alarm. If an alarm chirps or seems faulty, submit a maintenance request immediately. Tampering with alarms is illegal in Ontario and dangerous for everyone in the building.
- Fire safety: Keep exits, hallways, and balconies clear. Never leave cooking unattended, and never use barbecues indoors or on balconies where prohibited.
Caring for Your Home
- Moisture and ventilation: Run bathroom and kitchen fans, wipe up condensation on windows, and report any signs of leaks or mould right away.
- Garbage and recycling: Follow your building's or municipality's collection schedule and sorting rules. Never leave waste in common areas.
- Pests: Report any sign of pests immediately. Early treatment is faster, cheaper, and far more effective.
Being a Good Neighbour
- Keep noise reasonable, especially overnight. Be mindful in shared spaces like laundry rooms, hallways, and parking areas, and make sure your guests follow the same house rules you do.
Tenant Insurance

Seasonal Reminders
- Winter: Keep your unit heated even when away to prevent frozen pipes, and never turn the heat off entirely during cold months.
- Summer: If you install a window air conditioner, make sure it is safely secured and permitted in your building.
When It Is Time to Move On
